Rise and Shine: A new class for Saturday mornings 9.30am- 10.00am for age 3yrs +. A fun class to start the weekend in pyjamas! Stretch, jump, roll, hop and spring into your weekend to funky tunes and popular songs.
Adult Classes: All are very welcome to enrol on any of our Tap Classes – we recommend Grade 1 upwards. Also, Dance Conditioning which incorporates strength, stretch, balance and core exercises with a dance element and Grade 6 Ballet which is new for this term!
Silver Swans: Recommended for those over 55 or those preferring a gentler ballet class – this incorporates barre, port de bras and gentle stretch and strengthening exercises.
Acrobatic Arts = ‘Flex and Strength for Acro’: You will have noticed our new name for Acrobatic Art Classes. This is because Acro is made up of 5 components. They are Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. We are able to work on the first four components safely online and these components are the foundation for the safe and skilled execution, technique and progression of all the tumbling learnt in Acro. We know students are keen to perform tricks but Acrobatic Arts states that tumbling can only be taught with a qualified teacher present for spotting students. For the safety of our students, as well as for insurance purposes, our Acro Classes have therefore been renamed to Flex and strength for Acro.
We will regularly post short videos of technique for tumbling on our private facebook group ‘live@thedanceproject’ and if students wish to practice these please feel free to send videos of yourself practicing to us via whatsapp and we will feedback to you personally on technique etc.
In Acro students progress through levels from Primary to level 8 and certificates are awarded/posted on completion of each level.
We encourage ALL students to take part in our fun, energetic flex and strength classes to improve the students posture, flexibility, core strength and technique in all their dance genres.
Please bring yoga mat or small towel, yoga brick or small cushion to your class.
RAD Ballet: Please note Primary Ballet is available Thursday and Saturday – do let me know your preferred option.
We will be following the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus – focusing on technique, allegro and elevation, control and co-ordination, dynamics and confidence in recall of their syllabus. Following The Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Syllabus, exams are optional.
Sadly a lot of our students missed out on their recent Royal Academy of Dance exams due to Covid 19. These exams will be rescheduled when we return to classes although I do anticipate some back log. Please do encourage your children to keep practicing their grades – let us know if you require music to practice with. We will be sending through videos for the students to watch and practice at home – so do let me know if you need these. Alternatively the Royal Academy of Dance app can be downloaded on your device where you can purchase a full video of your child’s grade.
We will continue with your child’s grade online via zoom but I would advise your child begins to practice the next grade up as well for their ongoing progression and continued interest in dance.
ISTD Tap: Classes remain the same. For those interested in taking up tap, expect to develop musicality, rhythm, syncopation and overall fitness and energy.
Please use a flat piece of wood, kitchen top etc for your practice. We do have some second hand tap shoes for sale, but ebay is also a good place to look. We will be following the Imperial Society of DanceTeachers Tap syllabus. Exams are optional.
ISTD Modern and Showtime: Learn routines from popular musicals in a highly energetic and fun environment. Develop co-ordination, strength, a sound dance technique and style. We will be following the Imperial Society of DanceTeachers modern syllabus. Exams are optional.
Costs for classes: 30 mins £2.75, 45 mins £3.50
